We’ve been up to the same ol’ stuff.
Lowell is back on his normal shift cycle after a few months of craziness at work. It’s nice to be back with something familiar. Work is going as well as work can go. It’s the Navy, what more or less can we expect? He has been appointed some new jobs, so has been working longer hours while trying to get the jist of it all. He was kind of just dropped into it, so hit the ground running, and mostly blinded at that. He thinks by the end of the month or so, he’ll really have it all down and won’t have to put in so many extra hours each week.
Faith is getting better about her obedience, but has taken up this new habit of fit throwing. Where did she learn that? I don’t know, but it is really annoying. Oh well. I handle it one case at a time and am really trying to get her from doing it over such stupid little things that it usually is. I will break it all together, eventually, but for now we atleast need to conquer the trivial things. I tried the taking blanket away thing I’d talked about in an earlier post one afternoon when she refused to pick up the DVDs she pulled and spread out all over the living room. She didn’t seem too bothered by it at first, but when she decided she wanted it, and realized I meant business: no blanket until the movies were back on the shelf, she got right to it and picked it up rather quickly. Now, I tell her I’m going to put the blanket up until whatever it is I want her to do is done, she just makes it happen before I can take it. Yes! one for the good guys! ;) What else is new?? Oh! She knows just about all the letters in the alphabet now, I’m so proud! Her vocabulary sounds more and more like English – hooray! and she really starting to take the time to try and say things the proper way. She’s still a huge fan of books and reading, especially if there are pictures of animals. One of her newest, favorite things to do is color pictures. We have a few coloring books, but she prefers blank, scrap paper. She likes to talk about each color as she pulls it out and tells me all about the things she is coloring. It’s scribbled art work of “Mommy” “Daddy” “Tee Tee” (Felicity) and then “doggies” “tiddy-tat” “bunny” “tow” (cow) “whee-al” (whale) and other varieties of animals, objects, and persons. She is so proud to show off her masterpieces! And, the best part of recent days, is the blooming friendship between Felicity and her!
All the time, I hear the two of them race up the steps to play. I hear lots of clunking, bumping, and thumping follwed by histerical laughter. From what I can guess (Because if I go up there and make an appearance, they lose their ability to continue playing with each other. It’s like they can’t be found out in their friendship or something!) they are chasing each other from the master bedroom into their room or the guest room, and back again. Then, once they’re tired out from crawling around like crazy people, they settle into some random game with the toys in their room. The part I love the most about it is the laughter that pours down the stairs! Those two have way too much fun together when they decide that the other isn’t so bad for one reason or another.
Felicity still isn’t walking. She knows what to do, and how to do it, but has simply decided she doesn’t want to. I think she knows her time as the baby is coming to an end rather quickly (about 3 months), so is soaking in all the “baby time” she can. I really wish she’d walk, though, because she could be doing so much MORE and having so much more fun with her big sissy. All in her good time, I s’pose. That little miss is a vaccuum when it comes to food, too. Felicity can eat and eat and eat…and just about everything too! She continues to amaze us with her food-inhaling-abilities ;) She is very smart, too. She can say alot more than Faith could at this age, and really tries to say more. She knows alot, but can’t quite figure some things out. I know I’ve posted her basic vocab, but I’m going to brag again! She can say “Momma” and “Dadda”. She says “daw” (dog) when she hears one barking and she says “tee-tee-tee-tee” when she sees a kitty. She calls babies “ba-ba” and picks them up and gives them hugs n’ kisses. When she sees a horse, she whinnies, and she flips through the Farm Animal book we have to the page with the cow, points to it and says, “moooooooooo!” She puts her finger to her nose and will shoosh you, “sshhhhhh!” She says “Hi” to everyone behind us in Mass, everyone who stops on their way to Communion, and everyone we stop by on our way to Communion. And, she waves and says “Bye” to all on our way out of anywhere, or when she notices others leaving. And, she says, “Da-do” (thank you) when you take something to lighten her load, or when you give her something she really wants but can’t get to. She says “uh oh!” when something falls, and when she intentionally throws something to the ground, and says “Hey!” when Faith takes something from her, hahaha! She says “Wa-wa” when she wants her sippy cup of water, or anything to drink for that matter. She still only has 8 teeth, 4-top & 4-bottom, but she’s been a little grumpy and her gums are looking rather bulged. Yesterday I could feel her eye-teeth at the point of breaking through, so we have those and then the molars that aren’t looking too far behind.
Our little baby weighs about 1.2 pounds and is just under 12 inches from head to heel. He or she is continuing to develop facial features and I am feeling a lot of movement as baby continues to explore its body and world in the comfort of his or her own personal “living womb.” Our baby now has eyes that open and close, ears that can hear, and a thumb well worth sucking. His or her lungs have started secreting surfactant, the substance that keeps the moist, interior surface of the lungs from sticking together; and he or she is practicing breathing. Baby’s eyes are also watching for light and its ears are listening to my heart beat and my stomach growl. I have more appointments this week for baby and me, so if anything new or exciting to report comes up, I’ll be sure to let you know. But, up to this point, things are going well! We’re getting more and more excited to meet our newest family member and can’t believe we are getting ready to hit the 6-month mark! What a fast pregnancy this has been, huh?
Anywho, that is all the things that are going on in our little world. Hope all is well with you and your’s! God bless and keep you :)
