Road Trip! pt. 1

We road tripped North and east a pinch a few weeks ago.

The ultimate destination was Missouri to see both of Lowell’s grandmas, but we ended up leaving a day early so got to pitstop in Kansas to visit my brother and his family for a day.

We arrived pretty late in the evening, but James got us all set up and settled in for sleeping in a matter of minutes.

Everybody woke up pretty early the next morning. My sister-in-law teaches, so she left first thing. But all our kids were up and at ’em with their cousins two blinks after Becca left.

Noel is 1 1/2 and such a little ham! I love her and all her sass. She was SO excited to wake up and find so many friends of so many ages sleeping all over her house. It was pretty cute to see her face when I came out with Anastasia!

Sebastian is almost 9 months and a little bruiser. But he is an adorable little bruiser. He has his act together and is silently plotting what he plans to do as he becomes more mobile than his preferred army crawl.

We all got ready and went out to wander the outlet mall in Kansas City. After we tasted the local soda shop and checked out the dinosaur restaurant (that is basically the prehistoric version of Rainforest Cafe), we stopped by the Nebraska Furniture Store. The place was HUGE as Costco and two stories. Full of furniture, rugs,  appliances, workout equipment and knick knacks. There was also a Sees Candy near the entrance. We have these stores in Texas, but it took going to Kansas to actually see what the buzz was all about.

We took the kids back to the house and James and Lowell worked on the vehicles. James was getting ready to spend the weekend in St. Louis, and we were mid travel, so why not?

We were still there when Becca got home later in the afternoon, so we got to visit with her too and love on her adorable pregnant self!

We bade them farewell around dinner time with promises to meet up in St Louis for Mass.

**Fast Forward 2 days to Sunday morning**

We all met up for Mass at the Old Cathedral of St. Louis under the Gateway Arch. After Mass, we walked across the Church parking lot over to/under the Arch for the touristy picture thing.

Then we headed into the beautiful downtown St. Louis and met up at an amazing burger joint with one of James and Becca friends. It was a perfect afternoon!

After lunch we parted ways. They went off to check out all the pretty churches before the concert they were in town for started and we headed back to where we were staying to meet up with more Schaper/Basler relatives (see pt. 2).

It was so much fun and such a great visit that I won’t soon forget! I am glad that it worked out with the timing of everything that we got to see the Noel and Sebastian on Friday, and then hang out a bit more on Sunday morning and early afternoon with James and Becca.

Meet me in St. Louie we did! Until next time :)
